When a person does not drink enough water, the lactic and ureic acids build up in the muscle tissue. These acids are toxins to your body. They crystalize in the muscle tissue and eventually form hard crunchy balls that we call “knots”. These areas become sore and tender and painful. They then radiate pain to other areas. We call this referred pain. Lack of water and the build up of these acids leads to muscle aches and pains, arthritis, and joint problems.
